Hi guys, back again with a new book review. Today I will be reviewing Chris Colfer’s third and final book in the A Tale Of Magic book series. It is another sequel called A Tale Of Sorcery. It’s about Brystal and the Fairy Council planning to take down the Righteous Brotherhood. It comes with the addition of new characters such as Ryder, Dr States and more.
Warning: SPOILERS UP AHEAD! ( IF YOU’VE READ IT, GREAT! BUT IF NOT THEN DON’T SCROLL UP OR IF YOU JUST WANT TO SPOIL IT FOR YOURSELF THEN GO AHEAD)
My book review:
Book itself
- Once again, the book cover flap is beautiful! And the actual book cover itself is gorgeous! Love the detail
- Also, I just realised the book cover has an illustration of the Alchemy Institute on it.
- Still love the chapter titles
Characters
- I just realised that Xanthous is gay! I mean I had a theory, reading the chapter ‘The Message’ and I was right.
- Even the shopkeeper knew. And I loved how he empathised with Xanthous knowing how he felt.
- I really liked Immortalia as Queen 👑 Endustria. She seemed so sweet.
- I wonder what the real Queen Endustria was like…
- When did the Immortal take over her body…
- It was so cute when I read Xanthous meeting Elrik for the first time. It was fate.
- It’s so scary how Seven changes from A Tale of Witchcraft to A Tale Of Sorcery. Like now he’s just full on evil.😈
- I really didn’t like King Elvin and how he treated Prince Elron and Elrik.
- I like Prince Elrik and how he wanted to be with Xanthous all the way.
- I liked all of their interactions. A lot.
- However, I did not like Princess Elvina. I thought she was nice…
- I love how the Fairy Council is one big family and they all care for each other so much!
- I liked how there was at least one female scientist at the Alchemy Institute.
- I honestly liked Ryder. He didn’t seem suspicious and I would like to see him together with Brystal. She deserves it after everything she went through with Seven.
Plot
- Love how everyone in the Fairy Council is doing something to defeat the Righteous Brotherhood
- – It was so cool that Xanthous had his own story besides the main plot and that he accepted himself.
- The plot twist with Queen Endustria being the Immortal was so surprising!! Me and Princess Proxima were both shocked. Although when she was narrating her story to Princess Proxima, I got suspicious of the details
- Looking back when she wanted Princess Proxima to get a strong drink it was so it would be strong enough to kill her.
- I’m glad it ended properly and it tied up any loose ends.
- It was shocking that the fire was made up of many fire people which kinda made sense, how it spread.
- The scenes when the delegate group went into the Temple Of Knowledge were quite scary but intriguing.
Moments
- The fact that at the beginning, it was Immortalia as Queen Endustria blows me away.
- It was quite funny for Dr States to teleport both into Seven’s meeting with his soldiers and in Brystal’s meeting with the Fairy Council.
- It was really sweet when Emerelda supported Xanthous when he struggled to explain his identity conflict to her. They are like brothers and sisters, like she said!
- It was so sweet when Prince Elrik went to stay with Xanthous when he became the new Demon King 👑😈
- I hated when Brystal had to kill Madame Weatherberry in order to save everyone.
- I liked all the different departments in the Alchemy Institute.
Overall it was an amazing book, one that I would read again if I could!!
I kinda wish they made a movie 🎬 series about it, it would be so cool and (they stick to the books).
